Like Amara Singapore, its newly transformed sister, Amara Sanctuary Sentosa has just emerged from a makeover that melds the island’s maritime heritage as a former military fortress and the estate’s 100-year legacy.
The redesign, which took five months, saw Amara Sanctuary Sentosa working with design studio FARM to update its existing spaces with contemporary aesthetics.
Upon arrival at the hotel, guests are greeted with the newly designed lobby featuring the four-metre-tall “Everfresh Tree” and water feature, which are naturally lit with the space’s focal skylight.
However, the estate’s main transformation lies in the all-new Sanctuary Tearoom, which functions as the hotel’s main dining space. The 146-seater minimalist restaurant is split into indoor and alfresco dining areas, and has an additional patio area with plush settees overlooking the lobby’s water feature.
The Amara Junior Suite, which comes with its own living room area, is suitable for long-term stays.Earth-toned furnishings are juxtaposed with handwoven rattan lanterns and towering greens, in keeping with the resort’s lush, naturalistic design ethos.
This biophilic design, present in the hotel’s lobby and Sanctuary Tearoom, extends to all 48 of the hotel’s Villas and Suites. Additionally, the Verandah Studios and Suites rooms have been transformed into dual-key apartments with kitchenettes – which are available for long-term stays.
“This effort marks our first major refresh since we opened in 2007,” said Dawn Teo, COO of Amara Holdings. “As we embark on our latest redesign, we reaffirm our commitment to preserving the legacy that has defined us since our inception.”
There are currently no plans to refresh the hotel’s existing MICE facilities.
