YPO, a global network of chief executives which stands for Young Presidents' Organization, has announced that Singapore will once again be the host city for its flagship event, YPO EDGE, taking place at Marina Bay Sands in March next year.

This is the first time a host city has been chosen twice in YPO EDGE's 16-year history.

Commenting on the significance of YPO's decision, Jeannie Lim, executive director, conventions, meetings and incentive travel, Singapore Tourism Board (STB), said: "When Singapore first hosted the event in 2012, we already defied convention for being the first city in Asia to do so."

Each year, YPO EDGE brings together global chief executives, on a different continent, to interact and discuss ideas that will shape the future of businesses and communities. Previous editions have been held in Vancouver, Istanbul, Melbourne, Dubai, Barcelona, Miami, Toronto, Cape Town and other major cities.

Lim added that Singapore is particularly suitable for three reasons: the ease of connectivity, its pro-business environment, and its status as a knowledge hub, which makes it easy for the organiser to bring in key influences to network.

"As a beacon of growth and evolution, Singapore will be the perfect home for YPO's landmark event as we encourage and support leaders in their journey of engagement, learning and development," commented Scott Mordell, CEO of YPO.

At the press conference on March 29, the theme for 2018 YPO EDGE, "Defy Convention", was unveiled. Attendees can expect engaging and inspiring sessions offering unique solutions and learning formats, on topics like being disruptive and how it applies to them as business leaders.

The event is expected to draw over 2,700 global chief executives from more than 130 countries, according to a statement released by YPO.

While the panel of speakers has not been confirmed, the event has succeeded in attracting notable leaders from various fields in the past editions, including Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and general secretary of the National League for Democracy; His Majesty King Abdullah II, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; and Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of the Virgin Group.

YPO EDGE is only opened to YPO members and members' spouses/partners. For more information, visit ypo.org
