On March 19th, it was lights out for The Venetian Macao. As part of Earth Day, the complex turned off the exterior lights and non-essential indoor lights to participate in the worldwide environmental endeavour to raise awareness of climate change by going dark for one hour.
"Earth Hour raises consciousness worldwide on the importance of environmental sustainability, and this falls right in line with our corporate Sands ECO360° global sustainability strategy," said Mark McWhinnie, senior vice president of resort operations and development, Sands China Ltd.
Venetian Macao Conference Classroom set up. ECO360° is a meeting programme that provides environmentally friendly choices and options of meeting planners. Green meeting options include using energy-saving lighting, locally supplied goods, and setting equipment to energy-saving mode. The resort's Green Meeting Concierge team is responsible for familiarising event planners with the Sands ECO360° Meetings programme and helping them decide which options are suitable for them.
A comprehensive report that details energy and water consumption, recycling rates and carbon emissions is presented to planners after their event along with the highlights of their sustainable achievements.
