The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has joined hands with Sampran Model and nearly a dozen MICE operators in Thailand to bring environmental awareness to meeting organisers with a new "Farm to Functions" project.
The project will encourage meeting organisers to purchase organic agriculture products sourced directly from local farmers, which will provide healthy food to delegates while driving the economy of Thailand at the same time. Farmers and local communities will in turn see a regular stream of income and the environment will benefit as the organic farming methods used by the farmers has a lower impact on the planet.
Currently, there are nine MICE operators taking part in the project including the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre, the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, and the IMPACT Arena and the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center.
"Farm to Functions" is one of many ideas that has been rolled out as part of the five-year MICE Sustainability Thailand master plan which is currently in its second year. The mission of the plan is to reinforce Thailand as one of the leading sustainable MICE destinations.
