Running the last mile

Southeast Asia's e-commerce market gets ready for high-impact brainstorming at the third edition of Last Mile Fulfilment Asia (LMFAsia), the region's premier trade show for the retail, e-commerce, logistics and parcel industries. It will be held from March 2 to 3 at Singapore Expo.

The two-day conference and exhibition returns this year with the theme "Go Global, deliver Local", and taps into the potential rapid growth of e-commerce, which is projected to reach S$88 billion by 2025.

The current need to optimise cross-border fulfillment and delivery processes in the industries is important, especially since the fulfillment process costs almost 28 percent of the total cost of moving goods. This makes achieving cost efficiency one of the hot topics.

"The future of e-commerce is B2B e-commerce" will be one of the new tracks featured in this year's conference while the exhibition will highlight thematic zones for solutions regarding last mile, fulfillment centres, warehousing and automation.

Said Adrian Sng, GM of organiser SingEx Exhibitions: " Industry giants from China and US are pursuing significant e-commerce market shares in Asia and it will be a challenging year with headwinds affecting many in the fulfilment business. In order for companies to gain a competitive edge, there is a need to leverage technology to advance and conquer the last mile."
