More funding will be available to support the execution of creative lifestyle concepts and events with strong tourism potential, announced Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S Iswaran at the recently concluded Tourism Industry Conference held April 13 at Suntec City Convention Centre Singapore.
Launched by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in 2013, the Kickstart Fund will be allocated an additional S$10 million (US$7.17 million) to provide businesses with a higher level of support of up to 70%, with a higher grant ceiling of S$200,000 (US$143,437) per project.
The decision to enhance support comes on the back of the good variety of project proposals received since the Fund's inception, which has overall been well subscribed, said Melissa Ow, deputy chief executive of STB.
Opened to all legal entities - businesses, companies, associations and institutes etc. - qualifying projects comprise customer-focused concepts, for instance hybrid events that cut across various sectors including B2B2C; single and multiple editions of pop-ups (up to one year or four editions); as well as services like a culinary or art tour.
Projects have to be executed within two years from the date of the grant offer.
Past Kickstart Fund recipients include Neon Lights, an outdoor music and arts festival that is currently into its third year, and Singapore Cocktail Festival, which is offering weeklong celebrations themed around cocktails for the third time in 2017.
