To boost the growth and professional development of Malaysia's business events industry, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) has been busy strengthening ties with local and international players including the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO), the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau (KLTB), InvestKL and the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS).
"We are working closely with industry players to collaborate and provide customised solutions and experiences that support the evolving and varied needs of our clients as well as to influence their buying decisions and choose the center as their Business Events Partner," said Alan Pryor, the KLCC's general manager. "The centre has also identified annual industry engagement initiatives to attract buyers to experience Kuala Lumpur's business events proposition."
In light of a weakening global economic environment the KLCC is striving to work closely with clients to help them manage and maximise their budgets effectively, which includes maximising room and space usage.
The KLCC is also exploring the use of non-traditional spaces to provide different experiences for delegates and visitors. "Having prided ourselves on our flexible and innovative mind-set, we remain committed to 'pushing the envelope' with enhanced, creative and customised offerings that successfully deliver a truly unique experience for anyone attending events at our venue," said Pryor.
The groundwork for the centre's expansion is currently underway with completion scheduled for 2018. Once completed, the extension will provide an additional 10,000 sqm of flexible and multi- purpose space.
The KLCC also continues to invest in IT upgrades, which have recently included the installation of LAN ports with a bandwidth of 1Gbps. It also recently became the first venue in Malaysia to install a Cisco HDX Wi-Fi system to help manage Wi-Fi throughout the facility and improve its performance.
