Danang aims for MICE market

Vietnam's first event to specialise in MICE tourism, the Beach-Leisure & MICE Travel Mart 2016 (BMTM Danang) will be held in Da Nang from June 24-26 at the Tien Son Sports Center.

BMTM, hosted by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in collaboration with the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is expected to focus on luxurious beach-leisure and MICE tourism.

During the event - expected to attract around 200 booths, up to 150 international buyers, and 30 media agencies from ASEAN and Northeast Asian countries (China, Japan, South Korea) - various countries will launch their popular destinations, tourism products and sports and entertainment services in relation to high-class beach-leisure tourism and MICE tourism.

Da Nang itself will launch a variety of new leisure tourism products such as Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park (Hoa Phu Commune, Hoa Vang District), Ba Na Hills golf course and French Village (Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District), new services in Asian Park (Hai Chau District) and a number of tourist routes along the Han River.

Da Nang will also host the 5th Asian Beach Games during September 24 - October 3, which features over 14 sand and sea sports and is expected to attract nearly 5,000 athletes and officials from up to 45 countries.

Located in central Vietnam, Da Nang is the country's third largest city. It has grown very quickly over the last couple of years to become one of the top tourist destinations in Vietnam, welcoming a total of 4.68 million visitors - over 1 million of them international tourists - in 2015.

Recently, Da Nang has opened flights to key destinations in Asia including Japan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as many new domestic flight routes.

Vietnam's other key events for 2016 include the Vietnam International Travel Mart - VITM (April 14-17) in Hanoi, the Hue Cultural Festival 2016 (April 29-May 4) in Hue City, and the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City - ITE HCMC (September 8-10).
