Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) recently announced the renewal of its partnership with TravelSky, China's leading provider of information technology and commercial services to China's air travel and tourism industry, through to 2020.
Since 2003, the duo have collaborated to develop technology solutions for corporate travel in China, with TravelSky serving as a provider for a number of services including online booking tool CWT Online (powered by TravelSky). The renewed strategic alliance will help CWT maintain its leadership position in China, especially in online booking and mobile application.
The 2006 launch of CWT Online allowed clients the ability to book domestic travel. An update six years later further allowed them to book international travel, making it the first China-specific online booking tool to incorporate this functionality. Other industry firsts included CWT's launch of a smartphone app in 2013, also the first of its kind in China. The app gives travellers access to a wide range of in-country mobile services, which includes booking, changes in travel schedules and location-based information. It also has a built-in approval process to help travel managers ensure that their travellers only make bookings within their company's travel policy.
