Travellers can now bid for premium airline seats and upgrades with a new service offered from Plusgrade, a leading provider of upgrade solutions for the airline industry. In partnership with Amadeus, the new service is designed to benefit both passengers and airline partners.
"Plusgrade's mission is to help airlines generate as much revenue as possible from every flight," said Ken Harris, Plusgrade's chief executive officer. "Our partnership with Amadeus further strengthens Plusgrade's ability to innovate, lead and build upon the meaningful revenue streams and enhanced customer experiences for which our signature up-sell solutions are known."
After purchasing an airline ticket, passengers place bids for the desired service online. They then wait until 24-72 hours before the flight departs to find out if their bid was accepted. The service would appear to be a win-win for both airlines and passengers, with airlines generating additional revenue from otherwise unused services while passengers get an improved travel experience. "Our partnership with Plusgrade has over-delivered on customer engagement and continues to deliver meaningful ancillary revenue," said Nick Evans, manager of ancillary revenue at Qantas Airways.
