Classical allure at The Ritz-Carlton, Macau

In May 2015, The Ritz-Carlton, Macau opened as part of Phase Two of the Galaxy Macau complex. Spread out over 12 floors, the hotel features a decor that is a blend of East and West - think rich blue tiles accented by ornate Chinese-style paintings - to reflect the Portuguese and Chinese heritage of Macau.

Directly upon entering the hotel, guests are whisked up to the 51st floor for check in. The small and intimate area is complete with a welcoming fireplace and grand floral arrangements. Staff are quick to learn your name and likely to remember it throughout your stay.

Each of the 230 plus rooms in the all-suite hotel feature as standard - a separate sitting room, a king bedroom, and an expansive bathroom complete with a large soaking tub. Shades of grey and neutral tones combine with stark white to give an elegant yet muted style while white marble with grey veining hints of understated luxury.

Dining options include Cantonese fine dining restaurant Lai Heen; the Ritz-Carlton Cafe, a more casual space designed to mimic a classic French brasserie; and the Ritz-Carlton Bar and Lounge where guests can enjoy a gin and tonic made right at their table. The hotel also features an ESPA-branded spa, a fitness centre and of course the casino which lies at the core of the Galaxy complex.

With patterned carpet and walls, the tastefully decorated meeting spaces add a dash of style to events while the space itself is available in various configurations offering flexibility.

The private foyer on the ground floor is flanked by the ballroom on one side and smaller meeting spaces on the other. Upstairs, the Library Meeting Room is a cosy and intimate space that evokes, as the name suggests, a library. With plush sofas, sophisticated design accents and a dark colour scheme, it is great for more informal and relaxed meetings. The sitting area is suitable for pre-event drinks before moving to the boardroom next door where you can enjoy dinner or get straight to business.

Unlike other hotels located in Macau, The Ritz-Carlton, Macau exudes a calmness that is hard to find elsewhere in the bustling gaming centre. The small and welcoming Library Meeting Space is especially unique in the city, where large-scale meeting venues seem to be the norm.
