PHU QUOC - Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has opened yet another resort on the island of Phu Quoc, offering guests a tropical-style retreat with considerable meetings and events venues.

The resort adds another premium option for meeting planners to the destination which has been seeing a boom in hotel development in the last five years. The number of hotel rooms have leapt nearly four-fold to over 22,000 rooms.

Situated along Phu Quoc's western coast of Ong Lang Beach, the 305-room resort lies adjacent to Mövenpick Residences Phu Quoc which offers 329 apartment-style residences and 79 pool villas.

The resort's guestrooms come with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to a private balcony, with scenery of the ocean or mountains. Rooms start from 35 sqm to 72 sqm and offer modern comforts such as high-speed Wi-Fi, a pillow menu and fully-stocked minibar.

For meeting and events, the hotel offers venues catering from small- to medium-sized events. Its largest and most impressive venue, the 720 sqm Coral Ballroom, can host up to 860 guests in its column-free space with 6.8m-high ceilings and an adjacent 324 sqm foyer. The ballroom is also divisible into four small meeting rooms.

Guests can expect a medley of laidback options for dining across the hotel's five restaurants and bars serving a range of local Vietnamese cuisine, Asian and international cuisine. A highlight is its beach club on the beach featuring a sunken pool bar, where guests can order cocktails and items off an Asian Tapas menu.

Groups can take advantage of the hotel's tropical beach location and arrange for activities from a trek through a dense rainforest, a food tour through a night market, and a visit to the pepper farm, pearl farm or fish sauce factory for a glimpse into the local Vietnamese way of life.

"Guests can look forward to an exciting series of curated experiences during their stay with us, from an island exploration to a food tour in the night markets. The resort offers the perfect island getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life for those looking to spend a quiet weekend with the family," said Mr Philippe Le Bourhis, GM of Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc.

Leisure and wellness options include six swimming pools, a fitness centre with a yoga studio, spa and salon and jacuzzi. Groups with families will be able to tap on the hotel's kids and teens programme.
