Malaysia welcomed its largest turnout of delegates for World Congress
of Nephrology 2022 (WCN’22), held 24 to 27 February at Kuala Lumpur
Convention Centre.
As the first international hybrid event of the year, the attendance
was a positive response from the industry. There were more than 3,000
delegates who attended virtually, with over 900 Malaysians onsite at the
event. The congress hosts the world’s leading experts in kidney health
to exchange the latest science and clinical applications in improving
kidney care and preventing kidney disease worldwide. Its success sets
the precedence for other upcoming medical congresses.
In addition to the scientific themes on kidney failure, chronic kidney
disease and acute kidney injury, WCN’22 also featured the ISN Community
Film Event. This unique initiative to raise awareness on the reality of
living with kidney disease created the agenda for the community to
address key issues beyond the congress.
WCN’22 is supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau
(MyCEB), organised by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and
joint by Malaysia Society of Nephrology (MSN) alongside Asian Pacific
Society of Nephrology (APSN),
Emphasising the need for the opening of international borders, MyCEB
CEO Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud said, “This event was supposed to attract
a record number of 4,000 international delegates which could have
generated RM120 million in estimated economic impact had it been done
physically. With this regard, I truly hope the government authorities
shall reconsider ease of travel for our business events delegates that
broadly contribute not only to the national economy, but more
importantly to the advancement of medical and science.”
MyCEB will continue to roll-out new incentives, marketing plans and
safety measures to ensure global event organisers and attendees will
continue to benefit from the efficient management of world-class events
in the pandemic era.
