Singapore is laying the groundwork for a new generation of event and entertainment venues as part of larger plans in and around its established tourist hotspots from the Orchard Road shopping district to the resort island of Sentosa.
Among the planned developments is a new 3,000-capacity venue in the Orchard Road area by Live Nation, created in partnership with Lendlease Global Commercial REIT and backed by the Singapore Tourism Board.
Positioned as Live Nation’s first event venue in Singapore, the space is expected to host concerts, touring productions and community-led programming, adding a mid-sized live entertainment venue to Singapore’s increasingly diversified events landscape. Programming is also expected to tie into STB-led campaigns including Grand Prix Season Singapore.
Nearby, the Somerset Belt will be transformed into a youth-focused precinct by the second half of 2027. Plans include interconnected public and activity zones ranging from community gathering spaces and creative incubation hubs to skate facilities and green leisure areas, creating a more fluid blend between public realm, entertainment and event activation.
Tanglin Shopping Centre will be redeveloped into a mixed-use project featuring retail, office, wellness and cultural spaces. On the other end of Orchard Road on 37 Emerald Hill, STB will soon launch a tender for a mixed-used development comprising hotel and lifestyle concepts.
Off its shores, Singapore’s long-term Greater Sentosa Master Plan is set to reshape the southern waterfront in the next two decades, with the development of a new resort island, Pulau Brani with hotels, attractions and event spaces.
Meanwhile, the government is studying the feasibility of a new integrated cruise and ferry terminal at Straits View, adjacent to Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, as part of the wider Greater Southern Waterfront development. The area has also been identified as the potential site of the future Downtown MICE Hub.
