As Borneo’s largest waterfront purpose-built conference, exhibition, and entertainment facility, the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) is a sprawling six-hectare multi-function complex in the heart of the city, a 20-minute drive from Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Providing ample space for various types of events across five floors, the expansive column-free convention hall on level 4 and the exhibition hall on level 2 are both equipped with a retractable partition system that allows for flexible space configuration.

The 7,000 sqm outdoor plaza also connects to the main lobby, offering a unique setting for open-air events while adding a touch of natural beauty and ambience to events.

3R operations

Committed to waste reduction, SICC embraces the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3Rs) principles across its operations, leveraging an innovative Building Management System to optimise operational efficiency.

The centre has installed water stations at strategic points within the premise to encourage guests to use refillable bottles, reducing single-use plastic waste during events. To lower carbon footprints, paperless transactions through e-payment services including online transfers and mobile wallets is also encouraged.

Immersive events on the rise

CEO Datuk Dr Hajah Rosmawati advocates incorporating unique sensory experiences at events to foster deeper connections for attendees. As such, SICC has worked with local vendors to bring artisan markets to the venue – further enriching the event experience while committing to sustainability and social outreach efforts.
