Thailand is broadening its meetings and incentives proposition beyond familiar city and island gateways, with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) spotlighting Khao Lak as part of the Thailand Innovative Meetings Exchange’s (TIME 2026) familiarisation programme.
The choice of familiarisation destination is in line with TCEB’s positioning of the MICE sector around value, impact and experience, rather than venue capacity alone.
Its appeal lies in a combination of Andaman Sea scenery, rainforest, wellness-led hospitality, local encounters and resort infrastructure – qualities that TCEB describes as increasingly relevant to incentive groups seeking programmes that are memorable, meaningful and easier to personalise.
International travellers may fly into Phuket, continue by road to Khao Lak in about 1 to 1.5 hours, allowing planners to build a twin-destination itineraries that combine Phuket’s energy with Khao Lak’s quieter coastal setting.
The destination can support a range of incentive-friendly activities, from bamboo rafting through rainforest waterways and ethical elephant-care encounters to surfing, soft adventure and sustainability-focused activities at resort gardens and coastal ecosystems.
These experiences give groups opportunities to connect with nature, community and one another, while offering organisers content that aligns with wellbeing, ESG and purposeful travel priorities.

Planners may choose from a spectrum of accommodation styles, meeting spaces and outdoor event settings. Ballrooms, breakout rooms, beachfront venues and garden spaces allow groups to alternate between structured meetings, informal networking and destination-led celebrations.
The promotion of Khao Lak as an incentive destination comes as TCEB doubles down on MICE through campaigns such as MaxiMICE Thailand and Meet Well in Thailand, while also promoting secondary and emerging destinations.
Organised by TCEB’s Meetings and Incentives Department, TIME 2026 connects Thai suppliers with international buyer decision-makers, corporate buyers and media. Its Khao Lak business showcase is scheduled for 3 September 2026 at Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa, while the destination familiarisation element gives participants a chance to experience the area’s incentive product on the ground.
