As the appointed chair of the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter for the 2026-2028 term, BESarawak CEO Jason Tan Chin Foo aims to foster stronger collaboration across the region and help members navigate an ever-changing industry landscape.
Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) CEO Jason Tan Chin Foo has been appointed chair of the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter for the 2026-2028 term, becoming the first Sarawakian to hold the position.
Tan said his priority would be to foster stronger collaboration across the region and help members navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving industry landscape.
"I am honoured to be appointed as ICCA Asia Pacific chair. My aspiration is to build a stronger, more connected and inclusive Asia Pacific chapter where collaboration becomes our greatest strength," he said.
"Together, we will share knowledge, elevate professional standards and champion sustainable development to create a more resilient business events industry that delivers lasting value for our members, our destinations and our communities."
Tan also paid tribute to outgoing chair Jane Vong Holmes, senior manager for Asia Pacific at GainingEdge, crediting her with strengthening the chapter through her leadership and vision.

BESarawak chairman and Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee described the appointment as a significant honour for both Tan and the state.
"Jason's appointment is a recognition of his leadership and dedication to the business events industry. We are honoured that he has been entrusted with this important regional role," he said.
"We are confident he will contribute meaningfully to strengthening collaboration, knowledge exchange and the continued growth of the business events industry across Asia Pacific."
ICCA Asia Pacific senior regional director Waikin Wong said Tan's appointment reflected both his industry expertise and the growing maturity of the region's business events sector.
"Jason's appointment is a testament to his leadership, industry expertise and commitment to advancing the business events sector," Wong said.
"His collaborative approach and strategic perspective will be invaluable in bringing members together, strengthening regional cooperation and supporting the continued growth of the Asia Pacific chapter."
Tan's appointment is expected to further raise Sarawak's profile within the international meetings industry, following years of efforts by BESarawak to position the destination as a leading hub for business events in Asia Pacific.
