Grant Thompson has been named GM of the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort, which opened in July 2025.

Thompson joins the Vietnam resort from InterContinental Beijing Beichen, where he had served as GM since 2023. During his time at the Beijing property, the hotel achieved its highest KPI performance in 17 years and the highest guest satisfaction ranking within the Greater China region for IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Thompson brings more than 35 years of hospitality experience across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. He has held leadership roles with hospitality brands including Sofitel, The Leading Hotels of the World and Wanda Hotels & Resorts. During a five-and-a-half-year stint with Wanda, he opened six five-star hotels.
