InterContinental Halong Bay Resort has opened its doors with a suite of purpose-built event spaces. Located two hours from Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport, the resort sits in the Ha Long Marina Urban Area at the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ha Long Bay.

Powered for meetings and incentives

The hotel’s Meetings Centre is equipped with omnidirectional microphones, Logitech video-conference cameras, expansive LCD screens and customisable LED lighting to support immersive hybrid and in-person events.

Another highlight is the Tonkin Grand Ballroom, a pillarless space accommodating up to 1,050 guests in theatre-style configuration, 810 for receptions or 680 for banquets. The Cat Ba Ballroom, located on the sixth floor with floor-to-ceiling windows, can host up to 252 guests theatre-style or 160 for banquets.

Smaller spaces such as the Cong Tay Room, Ngoc Vung Room, Chairman's Boardroom and VIP Lounge offer flexible layouts for board meetings and breakout sessions.

For outdoor events, the resort features a landscaped garden for up to 380 guests and a panoramic terrace accommodating 390.

For incentive travel, the resort emphasises local cultural immersion, with tailored excursions including private cruises through limestone karsts, visits to floating fishing villages such as Vung Vieng and Cua Van, and behind-the-scenes tours at the Ha Long Pearl Farm. These experiences reflect the broader shift towards purpose-led business travel that connects delegates with regional culture and communities.

As part of IHG's Meetings for Good initiative, the resort supports sustainable events with a digital-first approach that aims to reduce waste by replacing printed materials with digital collateral and wayfinding signage. Single-use plastics are avoided, with filtered water offered in pitchers, reusable glassware and refill stations. Energy consumption is minimised through reduced heating, ventilation and air conditioning policies during set-up, breaks and overnight periods.

Delegates recharge

The property comprises 174 guestrooms and suites, 60 residences and 41 private villas.

A bespoke wellness programme offers jet-lag recovery and stress relief therapies at the Hidden Lagoon Spa in collaboration with Margaret Dabbs London and Sodashi, alongside complimentary access to Timeshifter, a circadian science app designed to help international travellers overcome jet lag.

Resort amenities include three outdoor pools, the family-friendly Planet Trekkers kids' club, The Game Room cinema, beach activities such as volleyball and archery, and six dining venues showcasing regional and international cuisine.
