On Sentosa Island, the sun is rising on a solar-powered W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, and The Luxury Collection’s Singapore debut, among Marriott International’s slew of MICE-related enhancements in Singapore.

Despite global uncertainty, Marriott International has seen an increase of 12% in MICE-related booking in the first half of 2025 in Singapore as compared to the same period last year, Oriol Montal, managing director, luxury, APAC, Marriott International, shared at a recent press briefing in Singapore. Key source markets are the US, China, India and South Korea.

Already offering some 15,377sqm of event space in Singapore, the hospitality giant is doubling down on its MICE-related investments in the destination.

At W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, upgrades are underway to spruce up its guestrooms, spa, restaurants, and meeting venues.

The hotel has launched an energy saving system comprising 683 solar panels – the largest on any hotel roof in the country. The S$500,000 (US$389,650) project is expected to save 500,000 kwh of electricity per year, or 6% of the property’s consumption. W Singapore - Sentosa Cove recently achieved the EarthCheck Benchmarked Silver status, a certification that tracks the resort’s performance in energy, water, waste, and community impact.

Montal noted that meeting planners are showing stronger demand for actionable insights on how to reduce environmental impact, citing response to its Connect Responsibly platform launched last year to detail event’s carbon and water footprint, property-specific sustainability practices, and carbon offset projects.

Over at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), The Luxury Collection Resort is making its Singapore debut. The Laurus, A Luxury Collection Resort is an all-suite colonial-style property opening this October on the site of the former Hard Rock Hotel Singapore in RWS.

The five-storey resort features 183 suites, each starting from 72sqm, as well as courtyard spaces and a function room that can hold 180 diners or 250 pax in theatre seating.

Marriot’s latest opening in Singapore increases its hotel count to 17 across 15 distinct brands.

Meanwhile, St Regis Singapore will launch its new meeting rooms on level 1 in October. The John Jacob Ballroom now houses two high-resolution LED walls with intelligent lighting and a modern sound system. It hosts 400-pax for a dinner and 500 in theatre-style.

Most of the hotel’s 299 guest rooms which start from 52 sqm in size, have completed refurbishment with their design inspired by the nearby Singapore Botanic Gardens.
