IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its presence in Malaysia with the signing of Voco Muar, a 107-room hotel set to become the first international-branded hotel in the riverside Johor town when it opens later this year.
Developed in partnership with KCC Hotel (Muar), a subsidiary of Malaysian property developer KCC Holdings Group, the hotel is in the advanced stages of construction, with interior design works currently underway.
Located within the KCC City Business Park, Voco Muar will place guests within one of the town's key commercial hubs while providing easy access to Muar's historic centre and waterfront precincts. The hotel is also positioned approximately 40 minutes from Malacca, making it a convenient base for both business and leisure travellers exploring southern Peninsular Malaysia.
The new hotel will feature 107 guestrooms, alongside meeting rooms and a grand ballroom.
Lifestyle and wellness facilities include an infinity pool, gymnasium, and multiple food and beverage outlets.
Voco Muar will operate under Voco hotels, IHG's fastest-growing premium brand.
The Muar property will become the brand's second hotel in Malaysia, following the opening of Voco Kuching earlier this year.
IHG currently operates 13 hotels in Malaysia, with a further eight properties in its development pipeline across multiple brands.
