The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) has launched three Specialty Certifications, expanding its professional development offering with on-demand education in incentive travel psychology, risk management and wellness.

The launch follows a recent SITE’s Member Needs Assessment, which found an appetite for higher-level learning. “Our members have told us very clearly that they want education they can use straight away, and these certifications are a direct response,” said Annette Gregg, CEO of SITE and SITE Foundation.

The Specialty Certifications complement SITE’s established Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS) and Certified Incentive Travel Professional (CITP) credentials, providing targeted continuing education on subjects shaping the design and delivery of incentive travel.

“As incentive travel continues to evolve, professionals need relevant, practical learning that keeps pace with the realities of their work,” commented Hasan Dinc, president of the SITE International Board of Directors.

What do the new courses cover?

Identifying key focus areas that are increasingly key to the incentive travel profession, SITE launched certifications for The Psychology of Incentive Travel Planning; Risk Ready: Assessing and Reducing Risk in Incentive Travel; and Integrating Wellness into Event Planning.

The Psychology of Incentive Travel Planning  explores how attention, emotion, motivation and memory influence the way participants experience incentive travel.

Grounded in behavioural science, psychology and neuroscience, its six modules guide learners through the science of motivation, cognitive load, emotional response, social connection and memory, applying each to programme design, communications, marketing and supplier proposals.

Risk Ready: Assessing and Reducing Risk in Incentive Travel aims to provide an accessible, industry-specific introduction to assessing and managing risk. Through practical examples, guided activities and templates, learners examine risks including transportation disruption, health and safety concerns, supplier issues, destination-related challenges, participant emergencies, weather events and larger crises.

The course also covers duty of care, risk prioritisation and the essential components of a crisis response plan, including team responsibilities, communication protocols and supplier readiness.

Integrating Wellness into Event Planning helps professionals use wellness as a strategic tool to improve engagement, satisfaction and belonging.

The certification covers selecting appropriate wellness activities for different audiences and agenda moments, vetting and contracting suppliers, defining measurable outcomes and managing implementation. It also explores social wellness and the role of shared experiences in creating stronger connections and communities.

All three certifications are delivered virtually and can be completed at the learner’s own pace. Each awards 1.00 CEU credit and a certificate following successful completion.

Registration is available through the official SITE certification website, and costs US$249 for members and US$375 for non-members.
