Sukhothai Hotels & Resorts expands into Mainland China with the opening of The Sukhothai Shanghai expected in April this year, which will add 170 guest rooms and 31 suites to the city's Jingan district.
The 201-key hotel joins the HKRI Taikoo Hui mixed-use complex, which includes office towers and a shopping mall.
Catering to corporate guests, the hotel offers 450sqm of meeting space on the second floor including the Grand Shanghai Ballroom and six multi-purpose function rooms. The pillar-less 300sqm ballroom can host banquets of up to 250 guests and approximately 350 guests for cocktail receptions. The six flexible function rooms are equipped with 65-inch or 85-inch widescreen display with sound bar. All meeting facilities come equipped with 100MB high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Pantry is a new concept offering event delegates a communal space to relax and socialise during refreshment breaks.
Hotel amenities include five dining venues serving authentic modern cuisines and artisanal beverages, with highlights including urban Italian restaurant La Scala helmed by Michelin-starred master chef Theodor Falser and chef de cuisine Stefano Sanna.
The hotel offers a fitness studio complete with a 25-metre heated indoor pool and a spa offering a range of Southeast Asian healing therapies and signature wellness programmes.
The hotel also boasts a selection of over 30 artworks featuring local and international artists, and a set of uniforms designed in collaboration with students from the Raffles Design Academy.
