Sofitel Sydney Wentworth has unveiled the first look at its A$60
million AUD (US$40.4 million) revamp, set to launch in October 2024
after just 10 months of work.
Led by architecture and interior design firm Fender Katsalidis, the
refurbishment of the property includes 436 guest rooms and suites,
alongside the redesign of public spaces and the grand entrance lobby.
New features of the hotel will include the Health & Wellness
Studio designed with a fully equipped gym, and an exclusive club lounge
for existing members and day pass holders to relax, entertain and work.
The hotel’s famous pillarless Wentworth Ballroom, one of Sydney’s
largest at 629sqm, will also benefit from major updates as part of the
renovation.
The five-star luxury hotel is reinventing hotel dining with the
introduction of its dining precinct, featuring two restaurants and two
bars alongside one of Sydney’s most iconic rooftop terraces. Tilda
offers Australian flame-cooked seafood at Tilda restaurant, while Delta
Rue serves French-Vietnamese cuisine.
With a storied history dating to 1966, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth has
been an iconic feature of Sydney’s urban landscape, located just steps
away from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.
The hotel has hosted an illustrious array of international delegates
and celebrities. These include the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke
of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, the late Princess Diana, Bill Gates,
numerous film and sports stars, and American Apollo astronauts Neil
Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.
