Le Méridien Singapore rebrands — again

The heritage hotel will be relaunched in 2021 as part of Far East Hospitality.

This is not the first time the heritage property on Sentosa is changing hands. It was once a Mövenpick, then Le Méridien, and will soon be rebranded into an as-yet-unknown brand under Far East Hospitality.

Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa announced over the weekend that it had ceased operations from 11.59 pm on October 31.

News of the hotel's sudden announcement on its Facebook page was met with a flood of comments from social media users, many of whom singled out the Onsen Suites with private soaking tubs as their favourite part of the former Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa.

The five-star, 191-room hotel, situated opposite Imbiah Station on the Sentosa Express monorail, was also popular as a wedding venue

The announcement made on October 31 itself was also accompanied with a note to thank "all of our past and present guests, business partners and associates for all for your support over the past couple of years. It has been a true pleasure welcoming you all to the compelling destination of Sentosa Island."

The Facebook post also added that the property would no longer be affiliated with Marriott International.

According to a statement by Marriott International shared with Yahoo Lifestyle SEA, all associates at Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa have been retained and offered employment by Far East Hospitality (FEH), which owns the resort.

Travel Weekly Asia has reached out to FEH, and a spokesperson has confirmed that the property will now come under the Singapore-based hospitality group.

Further details are expected to be unveiled later this month for the former Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa, which is currently slated for a Q2 2021 opening, according to the spokesperson.

Prior to become a Le Méridien branded property in 2016, the hotel was earlier known as Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa.
