Sikkim has broken ground on Hyatt Regency Gangtok, a 150-room luxury hotel designed to strengthen premium hospitality capacity in the capital and support the state’s development of high-value events.
Built in the Mintokgang area within the Suryavilas mixed-use development, the hotel will be developed on a 13,233-sqm master planned site, and offer direct access to the co-located casino, mall, luxury apartments and villas.
On the design front, developers have brought in Singapore’s SCSY Studio, which has worked on projects for luxury hospitality names including St Regis, Fairmont and Four Seasons, to name a few.
Once open, Hyatt Regency Gangtok will offer approximately 3,962 sqm of flexible meeting and event space for international groups heading to the Eastern Himalayas. Events could range from conventions and corporate summits, destination weddings and cultural showcases to festival tourism, aligning with broader efforts to position Gangtok as a year-round events destination.
Amenities include a temperature-controlled outdoor swimming pool, 278-sqm spa, gym, and family activity areas. Guests can also check out the all-day dining restaurant which seats 180, a specialty restaurant, bar and lounge, and the Regency Club.
The hotel boasts a central address, about 2km from the main Gangtok town centre, and near key attractions such as Enchey Monastery and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, with direct access to SH-310, the arterial road leading to Nathu La Pass.
According to the Sikkim government, the state recorded over 1.7 million tourist arrivals in 2025, including more than 71,000 foreign visitors, reflecting steady growth driven by improved connectivity and the reopening of key travel circuits.
