From AR to drones, here’s how technology can level up fun and immersion.

Competitive 1-v-1 experiences such as the Hado AR experience can bring teams together.

Technology is levelling up teambuilding by deepening engagement and immersion. As team games become more layered, simulations more real, and competitions more intense, companies have new opportunities to build camaraderie and sharpen essential skills such as communication, creative thinking, and problem-solving.

 1. AR: Charge up work warriors

What it’s about: Beunite offers augmented reality (AR) team building fun for nine to 72 pax at the Hado SHOW DC Department Store in Bangkok. The objective is to score points for one’s team by hitting opposing team players with AR bullets. After an introduction and equipment briefing, delegates are split into teams and handed bandanas and jerseys. The game starts with a pre-set game schedule lasting 80 seconds in a round robin format, before the semi-finals and finals. The equipment and games can also be set up in the hotel conference room provided there is enough space.

Why it works: Team battles are made more immersive and thrilling through AR. The rush of battling for victory together is a sure driver of camaraderie, charging teams with strong bonds to carry them into more victories at work.

2. Drones: Take teamwork to new heights

What it’s about: Singapore’s ThrottleUp Creation offers a three-hour Drone Flying & Racing obstacle course with five pax per team. Teams practise and race together relay style, with each member flying one portion of the race course. This takes place over multiple rounds, before the team with the best timing is crowned the winner.
For a less competitive drone activity, ThrottleUp Creation also has a three-hour Build Your Own FPV drones activity in a classroom setting. Included in the package is a lecture on FPV parts and components. Participants can take home the entire drone set after assembling and flying their drones.

Why it works: As the winner is not determined by a single round, teams get the chance to put their heads together, consider each member’s strength, and finetune technique and strategy to aim for better results in the subsequent round – much like the best teams do in real-world projects!

3. VR: Step into The Infinite Loop

What it’s about: A team of white-hat hackers is called on a secret mission after a young man is mysteriously pulled into a virtual world through a headset made by a dubious company, The Odyssey. To rescue him, the team must move between real and virtual worlds, solving clues and unlocking rooms using the White Hats Guide Book. One member explores the VR world while others crack codes in reality. Levels get tougher, puzzles trickier, and the leaderboard heats up in real time on a central screen in this business game distributed by Catalyst Teambuilding.

Why it works: It mimics an agile workplace where teams have to communicate across realms to figure things out – only way more fun. The activity hones communication, collaboration, and creative thinking under pressure.
