Outside capital city Bangkok, Thailand's resort destinations Phuket and Phang-Nga are being recognised for top-tier service standards.
A new extended edition of the Michelin Guide now includes an accommodations category featuring hotels and resorts in Bangkok, Phuket and Phang-Nga that have been selected by Michelin inspectors after a series of anonymous visits.
Among the new resorts to have attained a Michelin-star rating is Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay, which was selected for its pool suites and villas that overlook the Andaman Sea and modern bathrooms. The guide also recommends Wyndham Grand Kalim Bay's grand floating breakfast served in a private pool villa.
The five-star resort, awarded a rating of two houses out of three, is one of 34 other hotels and resorts to be selected.
"We are honoured to be listed as one of the recommended resorts across Phuket and Phang-Nga by a globally renowned guide. This is an amazing accolade for the team as it reflects the exceptional customer service we offer," said Dominic Egger, general manager, Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay.
The 194-room Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay, perched on a clifftop with views over the Andaman Sea, offers upscale amenities and elegant accommodation for guests.
It features a full-service spa offering traditional Thai therapies, Vichy showers, and a sauna and steam room, two unique outdoor swimming pools, fitness centre, kids' club and a grand ballroom. Guests can also enjoy a floating tray with chocolate-dipped strawberries and sparkling wine for special occasions, an all-day dining restaurant, two bars and a café, and a shuttle service to Patong.
A key feature of the resort's design is the 152 pool villas - the most in the Kalim-Patong area - each include either a six or nine-metre private infinity pool.
