Macau’s DOC DMC and smallWORLD Experience have launched Macau Event Company, becoming another destination management group in Asia to create a dedicated events business following Thai DMC ETA Group’s recent launch of Bwnd Events.
The launch was announced during the 18th anniversary celebration of DOC DMC Macau & Hong Kong and smallWORLD Experience at Riverside Macau on 16 September 2026. More than 100 guests from Macau’s MICE industry attended, including representatives from hotels, event agencies, destination management companies, government organisations, chambers of commerce, clients, suppliers and industry partners.
Macau Event Company will focus on event management, event production, audiovisual services, stage fabrication, creative concepts and entertainment sourcing. It will operate alongside DOC DMC and smallWORLD Experience, which provide destination management, congress organisation, team-building and experiential programmes in Macau, Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
The three businesses will be marketed through Macau Event Pros, an integrated sales platform covering destination management, congress services, event production, entertainment, team building and corporate experiences.
Bruno Simões, founder and director of DOC DMC and smallWORLD Experience, described Macau Event Company and Macau Event Pros as the next chapter for the business. He said the model would bring together three complementary brands under one collaborative vision.
Sam Li, who has risen through the ranks since joining DOC DMC in 2013, will serve as director of Macau Event Company.
He said the new business was established to provide professional and innovative event solutions while contributing to the continued development of Macau’s MICE industry. Its service areas include event management, event production, audiovisual services, stage fabrication, entertainment and creative event solutions.
SmallWORLD would continue to focus on team building and experiential learning as it expands across international markets. He added that human connection remains central to the company’s work.
The launch event at Riverside Macau was held under the theme “18 Years of Experience. A New Chapter Begins.” It included networking, food and beverage stations, a historical photo exhibition and showcase videos highlighting DOC DMC and smallWORLD Experience projects over the past 18 years.
