Starting 25 July, the UAE will expand visa on arrival for eligible citizens of six countries: Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa.
Under the new scheme, travellers are eligible to obtain a 14-day or 60-day visa on arrival.
To qualify, they must hold a valid residence permit issued by the US, a EU member state, the UK, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the 14-day visa can be extended once upon arrival. However, the 60-day visa applies for a single stay and cannot be extended.
The usual 14-day visa on arrival fee is AED 100 (US$27), and AED 250 for the 60-day visa.
Travellers who stay beyond the permitted period will be fined AED 50.
Authorities added that it will continue to “work in close coordination with the relevant national authorities to facilitate the movement of travellers, streamline consular procedures, and reinforce the UAE's position as a leading global destination for business, investment, entrepreneurship, and exceptional talent”.
