Transport to business events may have gotten easier (and more scenic) for MICE visitors in Seoul.

Seoul’s public transport network has expanded into its waterways, with the launch of the Hangang Bus ferry system connecting key hubs and MICE districts.

Following a two-year implementation plan and three months of trial runs, the Seoul government’s US$105 million Hangang Bus project launched on 18 September 2025.

The 28.9-kilometre route of the Hangang Bus connects key MICE districts Magok, Yeouido, and Jamsil within a pier network including Mangwon, Apgujeong, Oksu, and Ttukseom.

Business districts connected

Magok’s emerging MICE cluster is home to new facilities like COEX Magok Lewest, The Seoul Unique Venue, The River, and Plenty Convention.

In the established financial and business centre of Yeouido, major meeting venues like the 63 Convention Centre and high-end MICE hotels like Conrad Seoul offer extensive event spaces.

Meanwhile, the Jamsil district's major exhibition facilities are undergoing massive transformation with the development of the Jamsil Sports MICE Complex. The new complex will feature a convention and exhibition centre and hotels, while also leveraging existing large-scale venues like the Jamsil Sports Complex. This will provide a critical mass of event space, effectively linking the city's key MICE ecosystems via the river.

Landmarks and views

The new ferry connects both residents and visitors to some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks like the Namsan Tower and the Cheongdam Bridge, a backdrop recently popularised in the Netflix hit K-Pop Demon Hunters.

At night, the stretch from Yeouido to Ttukseom will give passengers a unique view of the rainbow-lit Banpo Bridge and the floating Sebitseom complex.

Daily river services

The ferry service currently has daily operations from 11:00 to 21:37 at 60 to 90-minute intervals until 9 October. When the 2025 Chuseok holidays end on 10 October, the service schedules will be extended.

The weekday run will start at 7:00 and end at 22:30, with 15-minute intervals during rush hour. The weekend runs are scheduled from 9:30 to 22:30, with 30-minute intervals.
