New Zealand is expected to send its largest-ever contingent to the upcoming Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) Conference in Melbourne.

19 venues, hotels, convention bureaus and activity operators from across the country will join the Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) and Tourism New Zealand at the Melbourne Conventions and Exhibition Centre from 9 to 11 December.

Organisations include Air New Zealand, Auckland Convention Bureau, Business Events Waikato and Venues Wellington.

This year's conference theme is "Embracing Change" - a proactive call to meeting planners to seek out fresh perspectives and try something new.

As part of the conference programme, Tourism New Zealand has also invited futurist and CEO of Fast Future Rohit Talwar to address the opportunities and challenges arising from global forces driving change, as well as creating new business potential in the meetings industry.

CINZ Australia manager Sharon Auld said, "Our growing team reflects the expansion of venue infrastructure and opportunities across the country. We are excited to update delegates on the realm of options in New Zealand and the significant developments, including the two new convention centres in Christchurch and Auckland opening 2020."

PCOA delegates will also have a chance to apply for the 2019 CINZ MEETINGS Hosted Buyer programme when applications open at the conference. The annual trade show in New Zealand generated over NZ$60 million (US$ 41 million) during its two days in Auckland in 2018.
