Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) is among the 23 convention centres around the world to have received a quality certification from AIPC, a global organisation for convention centre management.
The centre was awarded the AIPC Gold Quality Standards Certification from a pool of 190 venues worldwide, making it the second venue in Asia to be recognised.
BCCK Chief Executive Officer, Eric van Piggelen said the AIPC Quality standards clearly benchmarks against global excellence. "This result is a testament to the commitment and hard work of the BCCK team. This sets global standards for the business events industry in Kuching Sarawak" commented van Piggelen.
The AIPC Quality Standards programme is an industry-specific certification for confirming and documenting a centre's accomplishments in key areas of convention centre performance and is the only such specifically purposed form of certification in the industry, said AIPC President Aloysius Arlando.
AIPC represents a global network of more than 185 centres in 60 countries.
The audit involves assessment in ten key areas including customer service, quality of facilities and operations, employee relations, health, safety, security and emergency response, financial integrity, community relations, environmental responsibility, industry relations and supplier relations.
The centre has come a long way from its beginnings in 2009. It has since hosted over 1,500 events and welcomed over 1.9 million guests through its doors.
The AIPC certification also adds to the centre's recent accreditations, such as its ISO 14001 certification.
