After a six-month hiatus, Istanbul’s events industry has finally received the green light to reopen, successfully hosting its first international fair this month in the ‘new normal’.
Held for the third year running, the CNR Beauty & Wellness Fair traditionally welcomes around 20,500 visitors and exhibitors. The 2020 edition which took place from September 10 to 13 at CNR Expo saw over 500 exhibitors mingling with thousands of visitors across four days.
Safety measures included designated entrance and exit exhibition points, body temperature checks upon entry, external air pumped into ventilation systems, and a limit on the maximum number of people in the venue at any one point in time.
Additionally, in order to enter, all exhibitors, visitors and staff alike had to show their HES codes – a personal code implemented by the Ministry of Health in preventing the further spread of the Coronavirus. It is mandatory to have a valid HES code in order to purchase an air ticket into Turkey.
These measures further the country’s ‘Safe Tourism Certification Program’, which defines a guideline for transport and accommodation for all visitors into Turkey. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey has a similar safety programme as well, placed upon all local exhibition and fairs so delegates are ensured the most advanced health safety standards at their business events meets.
At Tuyap Exhibition and Convention Center, another key venue for events, additional safety measures for instance include disinfectant carpets, limited number of exhibitor badges according to stand size, all payments encouraged to be done via credit cards, as well as ambulances and medical teams on standby.
Looking ahead, a full events calendar awaits Turkey for the remaining of 2020 and up until Q1 2021. These include the upcoming İstanbul Marathon and Sports Expo from November 5 to 7, Travel Turkey İzmir 14th Tourism Fair and Conference from December 3 to 5, and the Herıtage Istanbul Restoration, Archeology Museum Technologies Fair & Conference in March 2021.
