In recent years, the Vietnamese city of Da Nang has seen an uptick in Chinese interest, specifically in the area of MICE activities. In order to ride the coattails of the trend, Furama Resort Da Nang recently organised Shanghai Roadshow in China to showcase the city's MICE capabilities and tourism offerings.
More than 60 business partners attended the Shanghai Roadshow, including MICE travel agencies, international event planning companies, as well as local and international media - and for good reasons too. Nguyen Duc Quynh, deputy general director of Furama Resort Da Nang, explained, "In the past two years, Furama Resort Da Nang has received countless requests from travel agencies and corporate customers with demands of organising big-scale events of up to 1,000 guests." The Shanghai Roadshow, then, was a great way to raise the awareness of Da Nang as a destination, as well as to showcase the city's MICE facilities, such as the Ariyana Convention Centre (ACC), Furama Resort Da Nang, Furama Villas and the Furama Da Nang's International Convention Palace (ICP).
The ACC, in particular, is no stranger to hosting big events. Aside from being the first and only oceanfront convention and exhibition centre in Vietnam, the ACC is also the country's largest multifunctional convention centre. In March this year, the venue hosted a 200-booth exhibition, as well as a separate 900-guest conference. Later in June, ACC also played host to the Sixth Global Environment Facility Assembly, which was attended by 2,000 delegates from 183 member countries.
With an estimated 7.47 million visitors expected in Da Nang in 2018, more developments are in the horizon as well. For example, the 1,400-key Ariyana Beach Resort & Suites Da Nang will open in late 2019, thus joining the 198-room Furama Resort Danang and the 131-room Furama Villas to form the Ariyana Tourism Complex. Looking ahead, Da Nang will work with enterprises to promote the city's offerings to potential markets.
