Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) did well for itself in 2018. The Centre recently reported its highest ever economic impact delivered to Malaysia at RM888 million (US$216 million), which is an 80% increase from 2017. KLCC also welcomed the most number of participants ever, with 2.18 million in 2018 - that's a 49% increase from 2017. In total, 1,485 events were held there during the calendar year, which translates to a 17% increase compared to the year before.
The Centre's general manager, Alan Pryor, shared, "We are delighted with our performance last year and I am happy to witness the hard work of our dedicated and highly experienced team is bearing fruit. It is especially pleasing to see an increase across most of our business segments. Our clients are clearly enjoying our customisable solutions and services that deliver a seamless and rewarding customer journey from beginning to end."
Pryor added that 2018 was also a busy year for KLCC on the industry engagement front. For example, the Centre delivered its first major North American client educational programme with Maritz Global Events, which was hosted by the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Business Events Alliance (KLCCBEA). Furthermore, KLCC helped to development the Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM), a national council representing the official voice of Malaysia's business events industry.
For 2019, KLCC is looking forward to a new expansion opening later this year, which will add 11,000sqm of flexible and multi-purpose space for its clients.
