A newly-constructed convention centre featuring a canopy structure has opened in Sarawak, aiming to offer exhibitors a more cost-effective solution for their events.
MetroCity Convention Centre (MCCC), located on previously undeveloped land, can host events for up to 10,000 people. According to reports in several local media, the modular canopy structure is the first of its kind in Kuching.
Reports highlighted how the modular canopy structure means reduced construction costs , which in turn can result in more affordable prices for exhibitors, as well as providing an economic benefit to the local community. The MCCC could have a positive impact on vendors at the MetroCity Night Market, with visitors attending events at the venue and also visiting nearby retail and food outlets.
The structure will be permanent, with plans to develop the site further in the pipeline. The inaugural Modern Home Living Expo was hosted at the site last week.
