Singapore Expo has launched its new Arena @ EXPO, a 6,700-seat multipurpose, plug-and-play concert hall that is designed with flexibility and cost-effectiveness in mind. The venue’s operators, Constellar, said that the new venue will meet the growing demand for mid-sized concerts ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 attendees.

Ng Sim Lim, VP, sales (venues), Constellar, said: “Arena @ EXPO steps in to fill this crucial gap, providing a concert space that is tailored to meet the needs of artistes, both local and international, seeking to perform and meet their fans here in Singapore.

“We know versatility and scalability are now key considerations for MICE planners, including concert organisers. The seating arrangements at Arena @ EXPO are adaptable to accommodate a range of audience sizes starting from a few hundred up to 6,700, with options for full seating or partial free-standing configurations.

“Our modular infrastructure and furnishings are also designed for concerts of any scale and are highly customisable, allowing the same space to be tailored to the unique needs of each event. This means that concert organisers can consider booking the venue for diverse music genres or specific event requirements like fan meet-and-greets.”

Cutting-edge technology

The latest tech that enhances event experiences include a sophisticated AV system, powerful acoustics, immersive lighting rigs, and comprehensive backstage amenities – all of which can be customised. Said Ng: “We traditionally offer a basic tech rider, providing a convenient plug-and-play solution. For larger productions requiring more extensive setups, we work with best-in-class partners like Showtec Communications to ensure the equipment provided is top-notch – promoters can leverage Showtec Communications’ expertise and extensive inventory. Additionally, promoters have the flexibility to bring in additional equipment, albeit subject to a standard levy.”

Dedicated areas

Special areas for pre-show preparation, talent holding, backstage facilities, onsite F&B for guests, and a scalable large concert area are key features of the new venue. Added Ng: “Looking ahead, our focus lies in enhancing the Back of House amenities to maintain high hospitality standards for the artistes performing at our venue. Additionally, we are also optimising the Front of House touchpoints to ensure a positive experience for concert attendees from the moment they step foot through our doors.

“MICE planners including concert promoters can also tap on our event support partners (as part of the EXPO Advantage Program), who have the capabilities and offerings to help event and concert organisers to put on the best possible show. Through our tie-ups with various travel, lifestyle, and media outreach partners, organisers can offer a rich experience for both local and international attendees, from arrival till departure. For instance, we facilitate promoters' access to accommodations through partnerships with nearby hotels as well as those located downtown.”

Arena @ EXPO can also hold a summit or exhibition while using the high-end AV equipment to deliver live talks or performances on stage simultaneously. Combined with the other interconnected spaces such as 10 halls and 32 meeting rooms across 123,000 sqm, indoors and outdoors, Singapore EXPO is aiming to deliver seamless and diversified experiences for delegates.

“At Singapore EXPO, the nation’s largest purpose-built MICE venue, we believe that no two events are alike. As planners become more ambitious and creative, our aim is to help them make the event of their dreams possible – which is why we call ourselves the Playground of Possibilities,” said Ng.
