The Grand Mercure Agra Convention Centre (GMCC) has opened just three kilometres from the Taj Mahal in India.

Adjoining the 168-room Grand Mercure Agra hotel, the new convention centre spans more than 1,486sqm and is designed to host everything from large-scale exhibitions and conferences to more intimate corporate gatherings and social events.

Facilities include a pillar-free hall with lofty ceilings, a pre-function space, and a versatile outdoor lawn area. The venue can accommodate over 1,000 delegates with flexible seating arrangements.

Accor said the opening enhances Agra’s appeal as both a business events hub and a destination for celebrations, leveraging the city’s global profile as home to one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Some guest rooms at the hotel also feature views of the Taj Mahal, further underlining the property’s draw for international and domestic groups.

“The launch of the Convention Centre at Grand Mercure Agra marks another step in our commitment to strengthening India’s events and hospitality landscape,” said Vivek Mahajan, general manager of Grand Mercure Agra.

“Agra, with its rich heritage and cultural significance, is an inspiring location for gatherings, and this venue has been designed to meet the growing demand for world-class event spaces while reflecting the warmth and service that define Accor.”

The Grand Mercure Agra Convention Centre joins Accor’s expanding portfolio of MICE-ready properties in India, supporting the group’s wider strategy to tap into the country’s rising demand for international-standard event infrastructure.
