Macao is set to welcome a new open-air performance venue on a vacant plot next to Grand Lisboa Palace and Lisboeta Macau.
Scheduled to launch operations in 2025, the large-scale outdoor
performance venue spanning 94,000 sqm can accommodate to 50,000
spectators, according to Macao’s Cultural Affairs Bureau.
Named the Macau Outdoor Performance Zone, the venue will be equipped
with essential and ancillary facilities to host large-scale
performances. The Macao government aims to attract organisations from
the mainland and overseas to host cultural festivals, performing arts
programs, and international tours at this new landmark.
Various departments of the Macanese government are currently
preparing for the design and tendering of the performance area. This new
venue will significantly enhance Macao’s capacity to host large-scale
events, complementing existing facilities like the Galaxy International
Convention Centre, which has a capacity of 16,000.
