The Lands by Capella, a development featuring large-scale event spaces, rooftop dining and luxury retail, is set to open in Sydney in early 2026.

Located between Circular Quay, Macquarie and George Streets in one of Sydney’s most dynamic districts, The Lands by Capella aims to emulate the success of its neighbour, the Capella Sydney hotel. It opened in 2023 and occupies the historic former Department of Education building, while Lands of Capella is housed in the former Department of Lands building.

The development of the Lands of Capella marks the transformation of one of Sydney’s most celebrated heritage sites. It will offer approximately 10,000 square metres of experiential luxury retail, F&B concepts with rooftop dining and large-scale event spaces, including an opulent ballroom. Collectively, the two heritage properties are now known as The Sandstone Precinct.

David Tsang, chief executive officer of developer Pontiac Land Group said: “The Lands by Capella highlights our continued commitment to creating extraordinary places where history, craft, culture, and local community are honoured. Working in close collaboration with the NSW Government, City of Sydney and First Nations advisors, restoration and conservation works are being meticulously carried out to honour the trust placed in Pontiac Land Group, and showcase our commitment to celebrating Australian heritage, art and culture.”
