Indonesian beach resort destination Bintan Resorts has announced the development of a five-hectare convention centre at Lagoi Bay, due for completion in 2027.
Located 60 minutes from Singapore by ferry, Bintan Resorts features 19 independent beach resorts, four designer golf courses and a range of wellness facilities. There are a range of existing meeting spaces, including ballrooms and outdoor venues, while incentive activities range from rock wall climbing to zip lines.
The addition of a new convention centre will allow Bintan Resorts to cater for larger meetings and events. With a capacity for 10,000 delegates, the facility will be one of the larger event venues in the region.
Bintan Resorts believes this will make the destination more appealing to the Indian MICE market.
Abdul Wahab, COO at Bintan Resorts said: “Indian corporates today are looking for destinations that balance connectivity and infrastructure with engaging experiences beyond formal sessions. Bintan delivers this through integrated resort venues, a world-class convention centre under development and incentive options ranging from signature golf experiences to outdoor adventures and wellness programmes.”
The island has previously hosted internationally renowned sporting events such as Ironman 70.3 Bintan, Bintan Reebok Spartan Race and Tour De Bintan.
