The chauffeur service platform’s latest funding round valued it at over 500 million euros.
Uber Technologies has agreed to acquire global chauffeur service provider Blacklane for an undisclosed sum, marking its continued expansion into the pre-booking segment driven by corporate executive travel.
Berlin-headquartered Blacklane’s latest funding round in November 2024 valued it at over 500 million euros (US$739.9 million), with a 60 million euro investment from Saudi Arabia-based Tasaru Mobility. Blacklane’s partners also include Mercedes-Benz Mobility, Gargash Enterprises, Al Fahim Group, Alstin Capital and RI Digital Ventures.
Currently, Blacklane has a presence in more than 500 cities across over 60 countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and other locations in Asia.
Blacklane CEO Jens Wohltorf described the move as a “powerful step-change in introducing our service to new markets globally”.
Pre-booked Uber Reserve trips make up one of the fastest-growing parts of the business, Uber said in a statement announcing the acquisition.
The on-demand private hire giant’s announcement came on the heels of its launch of Uber Elite this month. The new luxury service can be accessed via Uber Reserve or the Uber for Business delegate feature, which allows executive assistants to make transportation arrangements for executives.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close by the end of 2026.
