Green events made simple with CWT's new carbon tool

The calculator analyses individual and collective delegate carbon emissions and waste data for the entire event lifecycle.

The tool helps identify areas where sustainable choices could be made, such as transport, accommodation, venues, food and beverage, material, and waste management.

Travel management company CWT has launched a carbon calculator for meetings and events, designed to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

The calculator takes into account travel, accommodation, event space, and food consumption, providing environmental impact insights for events of between 200 and 50,000 people.

It analyses individual and collective delegate carbon emissions and waste data, and maps emissions data against each individual customer's own carbon benchmarks for current and future events. The tool helps customers identify areas where more sustainable choices could be made, including transportation, accommodation, venues, food and beverage, material, and waste management.

The M&E carbon calculator is the latest addition to CWT's sustainable travel products and is supported by carbon intelligence platform Thrust Carbon.

The tool was developed over a six-month pilot programme and was tested on CWT and select customer events.

According to Ian Cummings, global head at CWT Meetings & Events, nearly all of CWT's M&E customers and prospects have ambitious long-term sustainability goals. He added that the calculator enables organisations to operationalise a transparent and measurable solution to connect people and stakeholders in the most environmentally friendly way.

The calculator offers valuable insights for event planners and customers who are looking to meet sustainability targets and reduce the environmental impact of their events.
