The internet has been the great disruptor of our time for everyone - including the travel and hospitality industries. However, the internet- and mobile-first future also presents great opportunities for hotel chains, online travel agents and agency partners alike. To explore some of these opportunities, Facebook hosted the APAC Hotels Summit on June 20, 2018, for hotels and hospitality partners across Asia Pacific. The goal was to help these industry players future-proof their marketing strategies and to engage with Asian consumers in a more effective way.

During the full-day event, global travel and marketing experts shared the latest travel trends, as well as insights on how hotels have been marketing their establishments and services in the increasing mobile world. Some key takeaways include how brands need to build their presence in a multi-channel environment, how they need to think outside the box on mobile platforms, as well as examining what customer satisfaction and loyalty mean in today's travel industry. This helped hoteliers to reassess their marketing efforts and make plans to keep pace with industry changes.

Sandhya Devanathan, country director, Facebook Singapore, had this to say about this unique event, "The digital disruption experienced by the hospitality industry presents an opportunity for growth as well as new connection points with consumers in an increasingly complex and competitive mobile environment. Consumers in Asia use Facebook as a discovery platform when planning their travels. Here at Facebook, we're committed to supporting hotel brands unlock growth opportunities and connect with the massively mobile audience in the region."
