MEET TAIWAN has crowned Chubb Vietnam as its 2021 Asia Super Team (AST) champion, winning eight other finalists in this annual competition — also highlighting Taiwan's strength as a top post-pandemic incentive travel destination.
Organised by Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA, the 8th annual incentive travel competition went online for a second year since 2020, using a Cloud Travel Interactive Platform to create AST's Future Land-themed virtual arena.
Enterprise teams from Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines explored Taiwan via podcasts, treasure hunts, virtual painting sessions and more innovative challenges among other first-time virtual elements.
To remind teams of the fun incentive travel programmes bring, the competition also devised a way for teams to 'exchange' virtual Taiwan specialty gifts in the platform's gift section — a clever souvenir to remember the unique experience.
The success of the AST also underscores the importance of using incentive travel to motivate and build stronger relationships within business organisations.
As for which destinations planners prefer — a MEET TAIWAN 2020 survey targeting eight Asian key source markets revealed that more than 60% of incentives professionals voted Taiwan as their top choice in Asia, followed by Japan and Korea.
Michelle Ng, a representative from WTS Travel & Tours who attended October's hybrid Taiwan Incentive Talk agrees, indicating that "our clients who are predominantly based in Asia Pacific would prefer flying short-haul, and Taiwan is in huge demand".
