Amanda Lampe will become the new head of Business Events Sydney, replacing outgoing CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith.
Following an extensive global search, Business Events Sydney (BESydney) has announced the appointment of Amanda Lampe as its new CEO, effective 16 June 2025.
Professor Mary O’Kane AC, Chair of BESydney, described Lampe as a standout candidate from a competitive field. “Amanda’s unique combination of private and public sector experience and connectivity with industry and Government at all levels will be a great asset to BESydney as the NSW Government prepares to release its Visitor Economy Strategy vision to 2035.
Lampe also expressed her enthusiasm for stepping into the role. "Sydney is one of the great global cities of the world, and we are ideally placed to continue to win more international business events”, she said. “Business events are an important driver of economic activity, job creation, lasting partnerships and social impact. I am looking forward to building on the terrific work that Lyn and the BESydney team have achieved."
According to her LinkedIn profile, Lampe’s professional background spans senior corporate affairs roles at Diageo, Ausgrid, Cochlear, and ASX Limited. She has also served on the boards of Sydney WorldPride 2023 and Canberra Airport. Notably, she was previously Chief of Staff to both the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.
Professor O’Kane said a planned transition process was now underway leading up to outgoing CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith’s departure on 30 June 2025.
