Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao – Handwritten Collection
Cities in the Asia Pacific region are poised to dominate global hotel room inventory growth in 2026, with Shanghai and Beijing spearheading the region’s surge in supply, according to CoStar Group pipeline data.
In the city rankings, Shanghai (7,457), London (5,822) and Dubai (5,053) are the markets expected to see the biggest number of hotel rooms added this year.
APAC eclipses the other regions, with a staggering 251,234 new hotel rooms projected to open this year, followed by the Americas (132,479), Europe (123,789) and the Middle East (54,238).
After Shanghai, Beijing is the second-largest APAC contributor, with nearly 4,000 rooms set to come online.
Among the reported MICE hotel openings is the Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao – Handwritten Collection, a 360-room property strategically located near the National Exhibition and Convention Center and Hongqiao transport hub, featuring roughly 1,900sqm of dedicated meeting and event space.
In Beijing, there is the Beijing Northstar Marriott Marquis Hotel adjacent to the newer phase of the city’s main convention complex, offering 671 guest rooms and approximately 3,207sqm of meeting and event spaces.
