The SITE Global Conference 2019 welcomed a record number of incentive travel professionals at its first Thailand chapter held last week from January 10 to 14.

The newest SITE chapter hosted 375 incentive travel professionals from 30 different countries in the Thai capital of Bangkok, with event highlights including the Crystal Awards ceremony, educational sessions with prominent speakers, certification opportunities and cultural events.

Attendees, which included corporate buyers, incentive houses, independent planners, tourist boards, DMCs and venues, sat in for sessions by speakers such as artist and TED-speaker Phil Hanson and tackled topics such as blockchain in travel, creating a balanced scorecard for incentive travel, and trends in the incentive industry.

Beyond the meeting room, attendees also attended cultural immersions organised at creative spaces such as a former Soy Sauce Factory and Thailand Creativity and Design Center.

During the conference, SITE staged a series of workshops to create the "Bangkok Manifesto," 10 statements to capture the nature, purpose and direction of incentive travel.

CEO of SITE, Didier Scaillet commented that it was "our biggest Asia conference, with new highs in terms of CSR activities, sustainability, audience engagement, social media reach and overall delegate satisfaction."

Next year's SITE Global Conference will be held in Vancouver, Canada.

SITE currently has a global membership base of 2,480 members in 90 countries with 30 local and regional chapters.
