The Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia in the US has launched the Athens Beer Trail Trolley Tour, offering groups the chance to visit six local breweries in the destination on a hop-on, hop-off trolley bus service.

The trolley service is an extension to the Athens Beer Trail, created by the CVB last year, where groups can discover each brewery’s taproom’s individual approach to craft beer. It features the Athens Beer Trail Field Guide, available for pick up at any taproom along the trail or at the Historic Athens Welcome Center. Once all pages are stamped by each individual brewery, the guide can be cashed-in at the Historic Athens Welcome Center for a commemorative pilsner glass.

The six local breweries include Akademia Brewing Company, Athentic Brewing Company, Creature Comforts Brewing Co, Southern Brewing Company, Terrapin Beer Co and Normaltown Brewing Company.

Katie Williams, Athens CVB director said: “Athens has really made its mark as a beer destination in recent years, so we’re thrilled to offer this service that caters to our beer-loving locals and visitors. We can’t wait to see the positive impact it will bring to both our breweries and community as its ridership grows.”

The Athens Beer Trail Trolley Tours run every Thursday and Friday from 3-9pm, with more routes and days to be added in the future.
